CPU: Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz, or better)Ĭounter-Strike: Source is a timeless classic that has earned its place in gaming history as a worthy successor of the original Counter-Strike title, and an important stepping stone that helped Valve to craft its current hit title Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which is still extremely popular today. The game features no single-player campaign. It is important to note that this is a multiplayer-only game, with only a few offline modes of play being offered to the users (mainly fighting in multiplayer maps versus AI-controlled bots). Even though the game features dozens of weapons and support items, there is no combination of gear that is overpowered compared to others. Unlike other first-person shooters that rely on run-and-gun gameplay, Counter-Strike: Source requires players to move tactically, use cover, and coordinate with their teammates to succeed. One of the game's strongest features is its mechanics, which are heavily based on player skill and teamwork. Players also have the ability to pick up the weapons of defeated enemies and fallen comrades. Performing kills on opposing players awards users with in-game cash, which can be used for the purchase of new offensive, defensive and support gear at the start of each round. The rounds end when the bomb explores, it is defused, or all members of each team are defeated. The objective for each multiplayer map depends on the chosen gameplay mode, with the vast majority of the players electing to test their movement, aiming, cooperation, and tactical skills in Bomb Defusal mode where the Terrorist team must set and explode a bomb in predefined bomb sites, and Counter-Terrorist team fighting to stop them. Same as with every other mainline game in the franchise, Counter-Strike: Source gameplay is focused on two teams (Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists) who fight against each other on maps located in various settings all around the world. However, Counter-Strike: Source still remains fully accessible today, with players from all around the world still enjoying its addictive gameplay, map designs, and online modes. Released to the public in 2004 by Valve and Turtle Rock studios, Counter-Strike: Source for PC immediately managed to attract a strong online following that praised its intense gameplay, skill-based mechanics, visual improvements, and addictive multiplayer modes.Īfter years on the market, the official support for Counter-Strike: Source CSS was stopped in favor of the newly released title Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Counter-Strike: Source is a sequel to the award-winning tactical first-person multiplayer game Counter-Strike that moved this celebrated title into a new generation using the brand new game engine called Source.

I transcoded a 6:30-minute ProRes (standard) QuickTime to ProRes proxy in just under realtime. If you want some technical speed test results, check out my previous review of EditReady - the same speeds are still present. This really helps when making proxy files to be used with an offline/online workflow. Within the metadata browser in EditReady you can assign timecode to each file. When using clips from cameras like the GoPro, some NLEs won’t properly read the timecode track. Metadata is another strong suit of EditReady. In the past this was a little bit of hassle to get to work right, but now it’s easy with EditReady. It won’t add or remove frames but it will adjust the speed accordingly. Something I really love in EditReady is the ability to take high frame rate media and set it to the frame rate you want to edit in. As an added bonus, EditReady automatically joins spanned files like GoPro, AVCHD, MXF (camera MXF not Op1a) and HDV. If you were in post production about five years ago, you were probably all about the app ClipWrap, especially when it came to incompatible QuickTime wrappers like today’s often incompatible AVCHD. EditReady has adopted the ClipWrap functionality as well as transcoding. Keep in mind these are two separate software apps and both need to be purchased for this to work. So now, in addition to using the video scopes, you can batch convert a bunch of clips to an intraframe editing-friendly codec like DNxHR, burn in a LUT and preview it through ScopeBox to see where it hits on your waveform or RGB parade. What’s cool about this is that if you need to do a quick quality control check of your video, looking for illegal color values, and don’t have time or access to a hardware scope like a Tektronix, ScopeBox will work quickly and easily with EditReady on the same computer. ScopeLink, which has been around for a bit, allows ScopeBox to process video through apps like Apple FCP X, Adobe’s Premiere Pro, SpeedGrade and After Effects, and now EditReady. In this latest update to EditReady (v1.4), we get the ability to run our video through ScopeBox via ScopeLink. Playing in the EditReady window will not transmit the signal to ScopeBox. Here is a quick tip to get ScopeBox talking to EditReady: in EditReady you need to be previewing your file by hitting Command + 3 or going to the Clip menu and clicking Open Preview. You can see the technical results of any compression or LUT you are applying in EditReady through ScopeLink. And, as far as ScopeBox is concerned, I’ve been looking to try this out for a while, and now is the perfect time since EditReady now works with ScopeBox via ScopeLink. To this day, EditReady has been the fastest media encoder and on a Mac that I have ever used. EditReady is a video transcoder and ScopeBox is a software video scope solution. We are taking a close look at demand for Windows and if that begins to grow in a substantive way, we’ll shift our roadmap.” Oh, well (sigh).įor this review - conducted on my old-ish MacBook Pro - I am covering two of Divergent Media’s latest releases: the Mac-based EditReady 1.4 and ScopeBox 3.5. Most users build out a standalone system to run ScopeBox, and we’ve worked hard to maximize our performance on entry level Mac hardware such as the Mac Mini. We do occasionally get requests to port ScopeBox to Windows, but we don’t have active plans to do so. The tweet said, “Every time a hot, new GPU comes out, I get pushed a tiny bit more toward building a PC.” Because I was so excited at the possibility of it coming out on PC, we reached out to Woodworth, who said this: “As a small company, to date we’ve been focused on making high-quality Mac software. While Divergent still hasn’t made Windows versions of their apps, I did recently see a tweet from EditReady, ScopeBox and ClipWrap developer Mike Woodworth ( in early May that made me think it might be on their radar. The only thing that left me wanting more was the fact it was a Mac-only product. It’s been almost two years since I first reviewed Divergent Media’s video transcoder EditReady version 1.0.2… and I was thoroughly impressed with the speed and ease of use. Affordable transcoding and monitoring solutions Many popular games at the time could not play head to head directly over the internet. It's quite impressive and it's still in operation today! This is pre-rendered proxy similar to WRP. Very neat way of working through the problem. WRP pre-renders the webpages in a headless chrome instance and then returns a screenshot of the webpage as an image map to the vintage computer. This is generally impossible because most websites are partially/fully rendered using client side javascript. It lets you browse the modern internet on vintage computers. The protoweb team scrapes the Internet Archive and other resources and reassembles the websites by hand as thoroughly as possible. This is an HTTP proxy that has its aim on high quality completeness of websites. Two years later I've provided nearly a dozen free services to vintage computer enthusiasts around the world! One weekend I wrote a proxy and everthing else grew from there. To my surprise the existing archives online were not compatible with vintage browsers even though the content was from that era. Good luck with yours I hope you can get it working normally, I think it’s worth it, I use kompozer almost every day. I’ll report back when mine stops working and hopefully it won’t be tomorrow. But, you can still install it on newer releases. It looked quite solid when I tried it some. How To Install kompozer Kompozer was dropped from the repos, since it is no longer maintained in Debian. kompozer software package provides complete Web Authoring System, you can install in your Ubuntu 12. There is also an option in Synaptic under the ‘Package’ menu to ‘lock version’, which I have now activated on libidl0_0.8.14-1 Kompozer (also available in the ubuntu repository) is one of the few WYSIWYG HTML editors for Linux I know of. Otherwise I kept getting a broken system. Then install libidl0_0.8.14-1_b instead, as per the German commands. In my case anyway, the solution was to remove llibildl-2-0 0.8.14-4 using synaptic package manager first. The rest of the commands are the same as those given by our freind mated in the number 2 post in this thread. Then they give the command for installing it: sudo dpkg -i libidl0_0.8.14-1_b The difference is in the German version, they include an extra download.įor the 64-bit system that’s this one here: wget Then later, both sets of instructions give you a different block of commands depending on whether you have a 32-bit or 64-bit system. In the German version, they do not include libidl0 in the list of packages we’re supposed to apt-get install in the first command. I copied them off and pasted then in pluma one above the other to compare the differences. The commands given at the German Ubuntu users kompozer wiki are almost the same as given by our friend mated in the number 2 post in this thread. You don’t need to be able to understand German. That’s why the commands given in the German Ubuntu users kompozer wiki made sense to me. Somehow I lost kompozer in my laptop for a while following an update and with the two computers side by side I could see the different version of libidl0 in synaptic package manager. Maybe I’m doomed to lose kompozer at the next update or something but I have had kompozer working okay for years up to now. I’m running Ubuntu (MATE) 16.04.1 LTS in both. I’m sorry to read you’re still having problems, all I can say is it’s still working for me so far on two different computers. You should now find Kompozer in the menu. Sudo dpkg -i kompozer-data_0.8~b3.dfsg.1-0.1ubuntu2_all.deb Then, get the two packages, and install them in the correct order. Sudo apt-get install libatk1.0-0 libc6 libcairo2 libfontconfig1 libfreetype6 libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 libglib2.0-0 libgtk2.0-0 libidl0 libnspr4 libnss3 libpango1.0-0 libpng12-0 libstdc++6 libx11-6 libxft2 libxinerama1 libxrender1 libxt6 zlib1g This was the way to do it up through our last LTS so hopefully it is still good to go: Then you can see "Compatibility for all users"Ĭlick (tick) "Run this program as an administrator"ī.) Multiple Reference Images can be pinned to your screens so that you can use them as you paint, which is handy in itself, but they can be re-sized, repositioned and also zoomed into if you only need to look at one specific area. ArtRage 5 enables you to choose options such as how much paint is loaded and how well it mixesĪnother new feature in version 5 is its ability to import photos or images as both reference images and tracing images. First, go to the Mac App Store, search for Xcode, and click the Xcode app (which should be the first result). The good news is that all of this can be done for free, so if you have some time and patience to complete the different steps of the installation process, here are the details of how to download PuTTY on your Mac: Next, accept the Xcode license agreement, install MacPorts, and after that use the built-in Terminal app to finally install PuTTY on your Mac.Īs you can see, the process of downloading and installing PuTTY on a Mac isn’t particularly straightforward, and some preparation is required to get everything working. To download PuTTY for Mac, you must first download and install Xcode and download and install Xcode Command Line Tools. This can speed up the process of logging back into SSH servers in the future, and also makes switching between SSH servers quicker and more convenient. Other notable things that you can do in PuTTY that you can’t do in Terminal are saving your login data and saving information about your previous sessions. Note that you’d still need to use commands for most of your work, but having a GUI for the tool’s settings can still be very helpful. This interface can help with using PuTTY’s command line by allowing you to customize its settings in a more convenient way, rather than having to do everything by entering commands into the command line. However, the thing that may make downloading and installing PuTTY and using it instead of your Mac’s Terminal is that the latter offers a graphical user interface (GUI). For the most part, Terminal and PuTTY can be used in the same way. Your Mac already has a built-in SSH client – the Terminal tool that you can find in the Utilities folder. PuTTY is available on Mac through its macOS port. PuTTY is a Windows SSH client that’s also available for Mac – unlike other SSH clients, this tool offers a user interface and allows the user to save their login data and session information. Solving problems with violence is all that he’s good for. From the comics the player guides Fury through, we can see that the character initially doesn’t have much value. The art is gorgeous to match the comic-style source material, with bold colours and familiar yet memorable designs which evoke the sensation of reading a Modern Age graphic novel.īut here’s the ingenious conceit there’s an overarching story of Fury’s artist, John Kowalsky, struggling with expressing his creativity and losing faith in the value of Fury as a concept. The game’s levels are structured like chapters of a comic book, with each panel being a procedurally generated room of enemies that Fury needs to shoot dead. Fury is a stoic hero who solves problems by shooting them and has his bearings around every form of weapon imaginable, and so his prowess takes him to all sorts of universes, namely a vaguely Amazonian jungle, a fortress ruled by future-robot-Nazis and an alien mothership. The premise is that players take control of Fury, a generic comic book action hero in the vein of Flash Gordon or Turok. Let’s talk about Fury Unleashed’s story first. But it’s one of those games which is all-around competent, and then one little thing tips it over into greatness. And Fury Unleashed isn’t an exciting, original concept either, despite its long period of Early Access and the developer’s close communication with fans. I’d noted that its developer, the rather ordinarily-named Awesome Games Studio, previously made Yet Another Zombie Defense, a game which while competent also recognises its lack of originality in its title. though predictable rouge-lite mechanics and fantastic gameplay momentum. In my notes I’d written that it plays a little like Metal Slug and a lot like Comix Zone, I’d written that it has interesting. This isn’t how I anticipated starting this review. Each level will have its distinct comic book feel as well as enemies.Fury Unleashed is a far more heartfelt game than I expected it to be. Levels are hand designed and are procedurally generated. Choose the skillsets that will match your playstyle, change the appearance of your hero, heck, you can even use your own face graphic. You can also go through the game alone or with a friend in local co-op sessions.Ī lot of customizations are available for your hero. If you would want to breeze through the game, choose the easy mode, and set the parameters. The hard mode will be the ultimate challenge. In fact, you are able to finish the game with just that combo, you just have to play the game flawlessly.Ĭhoose the difficulty settings that will suit your skills. If you kill your enemies quickly enough, you are able to create one epic combo. The author, John Kowalsky is having a creativity slump, and it is up to you to help. Players will be battling inside the pages of a living comic book. The game is a combination of modern roguelite platforms and old school platformer shooters. If you enjoyed Contra, Metal Slug, Dead Cells, and Rogue Legacy, then you will surely enjoy Fury Unleashed. Fury Unleashed is an action, adventure, role-playing game that is developed and published by Awesome Games Studio. |
